Notes Newscopy: "THEN AND NOW--The world had never seen its like when the fabulous million Fox Theater opened at Ninth and Market on June 28, 1929. It was the first in the Fox chain to be equipped for all - talking pictures. Hailed as 'the world's finest theater', it had a seating capacity of 5,000. Stage shows and movies were presented until 1963 when the old Fox was torn down and replaced by a 25 - story complex, first called the Fox-Plaza and now known as the Grosvenor Plaza..
