Notes Newscopy: "'No More to Roam'--'I am glad it's the end of the divine comedy' says Beniamino Bufano as he views his St. Francis of Assisi statue at its new home - and he hopes it is permanent - at the ILWU Memorial Hall in the Fisherman's Wharf area. Thus it appears St. Francis is there to stay. The statue was in a Paris warehouse for 27 years before it was brought to the steps of St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Beach in 1956. It was removed in 1961 when the pastor complained it was blocking the church entrance. Next it was taken to Oakland and installed at Charbroiler until the longshoremen decided the statue should grace the grounds of their hall."
