Notes Newscopy: "New murals or panels won't prevent vandalism inside Coit Tower, Rec-Park Coms. Francis Herz reported to his group. 'Best answer is to find ways to cut down vandalism,' added Herz - and he was thinking of just such defacing as Charles Weber, Coit Tower maintenance man, points out in this photo. San Francisco artist Joseph Rowland offered to replace two-decade-old murals with redwood and aluminum panels such as he put up at World Trade Center for $50,000, but Herz doesn't think this is the best solution, says Rec-Park staff seeks inexpensive restoration and possibly a mar-proof plastic coating to protect the paintings."
