Notes Newscopy: "Pushbutton switching highlights this streamlined communications system in San Francisco headquarters offices of Columbia Steel Co. It is the first installation on the West Coast and is speeding Columbia's communications in its vast expansion program and in the handling of peacetime products for the Western states. Messages coming through the central offices are relayed rapidly to their destinations by pushbutton switching. Mrs. Vernie Brown, chief operator, is shown examining a perforated tape indicating the message's destination. She merely pushes a button to send it on its way."
