Newscopy: "BUFANO FINDS HIS LONG-MISSING BEAR HIBERNATING ATOP S.F. SAND DUNE--Beniamino (Benny) Bufano, San Francisco's little sculptor famous for his big statues, went bear hunting today. And he drew a bead on his bear at the Southeastern Sewage Treatment plant at Phelps-st and Jerrold-av, quietly hibernating on a piece of granite atop a sand dune. "It's mine," said Benny, patting the bear affectionately. The bear is headless and tailess and made of granite. The bear and a fair lady, also headless, are part of a collection of 12 pieces of granite bought by the federal government for sculptors during the days of the Works Progress Administration. Benny was a PWA (sic) supervisor, one of the city's many artists to take part in the art program. When the project was abandoned during World War II, the city found itself with 12 heavy pieces of granite. Today Sherman P.
