Notes |
On back: "With its structural steel framework approximately 75% completed, the new six-story addition to Mt. Zion Hospital at 2200 Post Street in San Francisco soon will become an integral operating part of this modern hospital. Approximately 850 tons of structural steel, fabricated at Bethlehem Pacific's Alameda Works and erected by the company's Fabricated Steel Construction Division, are being used in the new building. Out of consideration to patients in the existing hospital nearby, the entire steel framework is being field welded instead of riveted to eliminate all possible noise. Although eight floors are visible in the above photo, only six will house patients. The top two are for elevators, solarium and miscellaneous equipment. Erection of another addition to the hospital, five stories in height and requiring approximately 550 tons of structural steel, soon will start.." |
|
On back (continued): " Steelwork for this building, which will further increase Mt. Zion's facilities, also will be fabricated and erected by Bethlehem Pacific. Engineers, Ltd. of San Francisco are the contractors. Milton T. Pflueger, together with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, are the associated architects." |
