Aerial view of the West Bay crossing of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, showing three towers erected and one tower under erection. Pier W-4, the concrete center anchorage of the twin suspension bridges, midway between San Francisco and Yerba Buena Island, has been poured to an elevation of 222 feet above water level. According to Chief Engineer C. H. Purcell, the height of this concrete center anchorage from water level to the top of concrete will be 235.18 feet."
