PREPARATIONS FOR SAN FRANCISCO-OAKLAND BAY BRIDGE - State Director of Public Works Earl Lee Kelly took a saw from one of the workmen of the Transbay Construction Company and sawed off a girder to make way for the construction of the most westerly pier of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge at the end of Pier 24, San Francisco. Chief Engineer C. H. Purcell, head of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Division of the Department of Public Works (left) is inspecting the job of sawing being done by the Director. 6-15-33".
