Notes |
Newscopy: "The new $1,700,000 A. F. L. Sailors Union of the Pacific headquarters building, above, will be dedicated tonight as a monument to the S. U. P. members who lost their lives in World War II. The four-story structure, one of the finest union buildings in the nation, is located at First and Harrison-sts, within hailing distance of San Francisco's Embarcadero. The interior of the dispatching hall is shown, center, from where the 'men on the beach' are sent to fill the jobs listed on the huge blackboard. Recreational facilities here and elsewhere in the building help brighten the days the sailors periodically spend ashore. Harry Lundeberg, S. U. P. secretary, right, looks out of a window of the dispatching hall. Since 1938 Mr. Lundeberg has been top man." |
