Newscopy: "Mayor Roger Lapham gets the first bid to this year's Fireman's Ball, slated for Saturday in the Civic Auditorium. Bearers of the invitation are (left to right), Battalion Chiefs Carl Kruger, Martin J. Kearns and William F. Murray. Funds from the ball will go to the Widows and Orphans Aid Association of the San Francisco Fire Department. During the evening, awards for bravery and heroism will be made and a tribute will be paid to the seven men who died during the past year in department service. Tickets are on sale at all fire houses."
