Notes Newscopy: "MANY ARE COLD, BUT FEW ARE FROZEN ...and now we come to that time of the year we're all familiar with ... the season that may yet come to be known as Midwinter Madness. It's the period when men leap out of planes without parachutes and a strange tribe, calling itself the Polar Bears, resume its odd passion for outdoor bathing. Above we see a group of charter members, all belonging to the San Francisco Olympic Club, roaring out of the surf after their traditional New Years Day dip. (Rather roar out than in [cuts off]...)."
