Notes Donor description: Left to right: Velia and Alexa. Alexa and her Auntie Velia. It’s Velia’s first time coming to America because she’s from Mexico. Children’s playground at Yerba Buena (near ice skating rink).
Alexa’s dad was a WW2 vet, came here in early 80’s. Returned to Philippines and mom was set up in an arranged marriage (she was 25; he was 70). He petitioned her to come to the U.S., and she was his second wife. When he came here, he had family, and his first wife had passed away. He told Rosie (Alexa’s mom) because she was old and had to take care of him, to find a husband she could have a family with. Auntie Velia is Alexa’s biological dad’s sister.
