Notes Newscopy: "It wasn't cocaine that an undercover agent bought from the Rev. Carl Abbe of the New Age Community Church. But it wasn't saccharine, either, as Abbe's colleague, the Rev. Montague Easton, claimed. And as a result, the North Beach home for a growing colony of beatnik-types is in trouble. Assistant police criminologist Shoji Horikoshi reported today he found amphetamines--the basis of 'pep pills'--in the two ounces of white powder allegedly sold by Abbe for $250. Police raided the church and the adjoining Last Exit coffehouse at 355 Broadway Wednesday afternoon. They said Abbe offered the white powder [...].
