BACK TO WORK BUT LABOR SHORTAGE CONTINUES - SAN FRANCISCO-
-After 51 days on strike, A. F. L. and C. I. O. machinists
resumed work at 11 San Francisco Bay shipyards on defense
contracts they left nearly two months ago. But, because
many of the striking workers found other employment which
they are unwilling to leave, only 1100 of the 1700 are
back at work and the plants still face a skilled labor
shortage. Above, returning workers file into the local
plant of the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. (NY CH CL COAST)
