| Notes |
Newscopy: "The first cigar stand ever to set up business in the City Hall began operations this morning, with William Peck making his first sale to Tom Brooks, chief administrative officer. Blind since birth, Mr. Peck, 39, of 1925 Lincoln-way, will pay 3 percent of his gross income to the State Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation for a fund to establish other stands in the city. The state built his City Hall stand, but he bought his own stock from earnings of his former stand at the Federal Building. His is the 16th stand opened in Federal, state county and city buildings to be operated by the blind on a rent-free basis." |
