Newscopy (1954 Apr. 28): "1940 VERSION--This is the seventeenth hole nine years later. Growing pines have partially obscured the tank near well which provided water for course. The distance had been shortened to between 135 and 140 yards and an eight or nine iron was good enough to reach the green. More traps had been added and others deepened. The slope up to the green had been made easier and it was fast becoming a favorite for the golfers who were collecting 'holes in one.'".
