Notes Newscopy: "LESSENING THE DANGERS AT MOUNTAIN LAKE - Exposure of unsafe conditions at historic Mountain Lake adjoining the Presidio by News Call Bulletin Angry Man columnist, Joe Allison, has led to action by the Army and city officials. A deceptive crust which covers a thick layer of soft mud is being scraped away from the shores. Two children broke through the crust this week and would have drowned in the quicksand-like goo if their plight hadn't been noticed. The condition is blamed on last year's lack of rainfall and the Army's pumping of water from the lake. Army has suspended pumping operations. Here city employee John Poppin posts a clearly worded sign of warning near a newly erected safety fence.".
