| Description |
Enforces California State laws concerning the legal manufacture, distribution and sale of alcoholic beverages. Issues State permits for the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages. Works with local law enforcement agencies to enforce state laws regarding alcoholic beverages and reduce alcohol related crimes. Provides workshops for businesses that hold alcoholic permits. Workshops train employees on the alcohol beverage laws and assist them with the compliance of those laws. Issues one-day special event licenses for nonprofit organizations and civic, political, fraternal, or religious groups that sponsor events where alcohol is sold or served. Publishes and distributes a booklet titled "Questions and Answers about the Alcohol Beverage Control Act." |
| Eligibility |
For an alcohol beverage permit: 21 years of age or older; legal resident of the United States; and own or lease commercial property where alcohol is to be sold. |

Permit fees vary for businesses. Fees for special event licenses: $15 to $30 depending upon type of group and type of alcohol served. |

Application package for permits must be picked-up at this office in person. Applicants for permits must undergo criminal background check. Groups applying for special event licenses must provide proof of nonprofit or tax exempt status. |
