Description Provides information about heart disease and stroke prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Other services include seminars, referrals for CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training, educational materials, and a support group for stroke survivors and their families. Chinese speakers can leave a message at 415-228-8404 and they will receive a callback about local resources available. Also provides specific information on women's heart disease and stroke (888-MY-HEART). Sponsors an annual fundraiser, "American Heart Walk" (held in the fall). This office primarily serves San Francisco; there are other offices located in the Bay Area.
Advocates for and funds heart disease and stroke research. Publishes related printed materials including books, scientific journals, and pamphlets. Offers the following health promotion programs: "Chinese Community Cardiac Council," "Heart in the Black Community," "El Corazon de la Comunidad" (Hispanic/Latino community), and "Filipino Heart Council." Volunteer opportunities are available.
