Description Works with youth at risk of dropping out or who have dropped out of school. The Dropout Prevention Office handles all truancy referrals, provides guidance and re-entry information for all truant students, and makes referrals to alternative district programs, including GED referrals.
Pupil Services also works directly with shelters and community agencies to assist homeless families with student enrollment. Responsible for the placement of students returning from juvenile court facilities, student disciplinary and safety transfers, and student expulsion hearings. Operates a counseling center for students who are on suspension and/or awaiting disciplinary action, and for truants dropped off by the police. Also issues student work permits and handles subpoenas for student records. Issues transcripts and record requests from Immigration and Internal Revenue Service.
Eligibility Student attending any San Francisco public school.
Fee $3 for transcript and record requests.
Application Students are referred by schools, parents, the Department of Human Services (DHS), or may be self-referred.
