| Description |
Part of the community since 1891, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) serves more than 13,000 youth annually at nine Clubhouses, along with a residential summer camp, Camp Mendocino, and a high-end summer-school program, Project Discover. Serving youth ages 6 to 18; Clubhouses operate as drop-in centers for local youth. Clubhouses are open when kids need most everyday after school, all day on school holidays and during the summer. Clubhouses are maintained as safe places where young people feel they belong, are accepted and can learn and grow. Each Clubhouse offers programs in five core areas: Character and Leadership Development; Education and Career Development; Health and Life Skills; The Arts; Sports, Fitness and Recreation. Activities include sports leagues, competitive swimming and a Learn To Swim program, game room, computer lab, homework assistance, arts and crafts, teen staff opportunities, as well as personal and educational development.
