Description Provides affordable arts and crafts instruction for children, teenagers, adults, and seniors. Classes include instruction in ceramics, leaded glass, jewelry, drawing, watercolor, and china painting. Free art classes for high school students (15-17 years of age) are available. Four sessions are offered throughout the year (one per session). One-day workshops covering other arts and crafts are also offered.
Offers affordable art camps for young teenagers (11-15 years of age) during school holidays, breaks, and summer vacation. Provides opportunities for youth to explore different arts and crafts. Art camps range in duration from a few days to three weeks depending on school vacations. Sponsors an annual fundraising sale and silent auction in October featuring works by students and staff.
The studio is located within the Sharon Building, between Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy Drives, at the eastern end of Golden Gate Park near the Children's Playground, across from the Carousel. The studio is a program of the Recreation and Park Department and sponsored in part by the Friends of the Sharon Art Studio (FOSAS). Eligibility Anyone six years of age or older.
Fee Varies depending on the class. Additional fee for materials. Some scholarships are available. Some art classes for youth (15-17 years of age) are free.
Application Open enrollment for Spring and Fall sessions; pre-registration for Winter and Summer sessions. Call for dates and times.
