Description Educates, supports, empowers, and advocates for Asian and Pacific Islander communities, particularly those living with, or at-risk of HIV. The Center is committed to serving low-income, severe-need, un- and under-insured Asian and Pacific Islander populations including immigrants and refugees; lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and questioning youth; gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men; transgender persons; and women working in massage parlors.
Services include the Ohana Program which provides a comprehensive range of services through three program departments: HIV Care Services, Health Education, and Research and Technical Assistance; HIV Care Services provides on-site primary medical care, HIV treatment case management, mental health counseling, psychiatric consultation, treatment and peer advocacy, and individual and group support for those in severe need; Health Education provides multi-level and multi-lingual health promotion programming, including on-site and mobile HIV testing, needle exchange, volunteer and leadership development opportunities, workshops and support groups, community organizing and outreach, magnet community events, social marketing, and web-based outreach; AQUA (Asian/Pacific Islander Queer/Questioning Under 25 Altogether) youth group which offers peer support, workshops, and classes; and Research and Technical Assistance which provides capacity-building services and trainings which include community mobilization and organizational development; training is offered to staffed and volunteer organizations and Health Departments across the continental U.S. and Pacific Jurisdictions.
The main office is in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood. Services are also provided in Oakland at 1755 Broadway (510-625-1578), and within San Mateo County Health Services Agency's AIDS Program at 380 90th Street Daly City (650-669-0482).
