Description Offers social services and emotional support to seniors and at-risk elders in cooperation with other agencies including San Francisco Office on the Aging. Provides free bi-monthly groceries for low-income seniors; gives frozen meals and microwaves, medical transportation, and in-home assistance to at-risk seniors, and respite for caregivers; serves congregate hot lunches Monday through Friday at noon, and offers presentations on aging issues, arts and crafts activities, day outings, table games, dancing, monthly birthday parties and holiday celebrations.
Operates a gift boutique, Gifts on the Hill, 513 Cortland Ave., 10 a.m. to noon, and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (weekends by appointment) to help fund the Neighborhood Elder Support Team (NEST); NEST works to meet the practical, physical and emotional needs and concerns of frail and homebound elders by linking them with social services, neighborhood resources, and community volunteers.
Eligibility 60 years of age or older. Bernal Heights or Outer Mission resident for NEST program.
Fee None. $1.25 suggested donation for lunch.
