Description Regulates, excludes, and abates to prevent the introduction and establishment of pests detrimental to agriculture. Prevents the misuse of pesticide and maintains records of pesticide use, applications, residues, and data. Ensures that agricultural products meet required quality standards and marketing requirements. Maintains and publishes an annual county agricultural report ("Crop Report") and statistical data. Enforces regulations pertaining to nurseries, nursery stock, seeds, organic food products, farmers' markets, and direct marketing, for wholesale, retail, import, and export. Distributes state Department of Agriculture publications. Provides speakers for community groups. Formerly a division of the Consumer Assurance Department (defunct).
