Description Provides employment and career development services including: assessment; career counseling; job referrals and placement; veteran's employment services; youth employment services; job search workshops; casual labor (mostly short-term manual labor) and other job search services for job seekers. The Job Agent Program provides employment related supportive services to economically disadvantaged applicants. The Intensive Service Program provides placement services on a case-load basis to long-term unemployed individuals. EDD also provides a job search library with informational handouts and reference material on the job search process.
Job Placement includes: self-entry of applicants into EDD's Job Match computer system; in-person interviews; monitoring of available job openings for registered applicants; computer searches to match an employer's job requirements with applicant's skills, knowledge and abilities; self-service, online review of job listings; and referrals to other supportive services. Veterans Services include: regular job placement activities; screening for eligibility for on-the-job training programs and referral to trainee positions; referral to supportive services; and job search skills workshops.
EDD administers the Unemployment Insurance program, which provides partial wage replacement to unemployed workers while they conduct an active search for new work. Unemployment Insurance is a federal-state program, based on federal law, but administered by state through the Employment Development Department (EDD). Unemployment Insurance services are provided only over the telephone.
One Stop Career Center Annex is located at 3119 Mission Street.
Eligibility Must be legally entitled to work in the United States. Veterans Services: must have served full time active duty for a minimum of 181 days in any service branch or be a member of reserve units which were activated during a period of war. Jobs for Youth: 14 to 24 years of age. YEOP: 15 to 21 years of age.

Application Appointments are not necessary for most initial services. In-person intake services are available at the Information Window from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Employers with jobs to offer may call 415-749-7500 or fax information to 415-749-7477.
