| Description |
A community development corporation providing housing development projects and business development services to minority- and women-owned businesses and contractors. The Housing Division of ASIAN, Inc. acquires and rehabilitates dilapidated apartment buildings into safe and low-cost rental units. Using partnerships between public agencies, private lenders, and private investors, ASIAN, Inc. makes funds available for low-cost housing projects. As a loan sponsor for a number of housing rehabilitation loan programs, ASIAN, Inc. assists an applicant in satisfying the program application requirements, reviewing plans and specifications, securing governmental building approvals, controlling construction disbursements, verification of completed work, and compliance with the borrower agreement. |

Maintains a procurement plan room containing city, county, state and federal construction plans and specifications available for loan to contractors or subcontractors. Other services include construction job listings for contractors; and referrals to an appropriate bonding company; assistance with obtaining certification in order to bid for government contracts; listings of government contracts and bid opportunities; and information about doing business with minority-owned businesses including listings of such businesses. Administers the California Public Utilities Commission's (CPUC) Supplier Clearinghouse which certifies woman- and minority-businesses so that they may participate in utility company procurement. |
