| Description |
Homeless Children's Network (HCN) is a collaborative of homeless, permanent supportive housing, and domestic violence programs. The collaborative was created 1992 in order to provide mental health services to member agencies. HCN responds to the traumas of homelessness by providing child-centered and family-focused therapy; as well as case management support to homeless and formerly homeless children and their families. Clients are seen for individual counseling, play therapy, family and group therapy. Homeless children and their families receive short and long term services that are both culturally and developmentally appropriate for each particular child. Once families have settled into a stable environment, HCN continues to provide aftercare services to prevent chronic homelessness, while providing children with ongoing resources and counseling. HCN's Child Care Consultation Program responds to the needs of homeless children birth to 5 years of age, while HCN's Literacy and Communications Center responds to the educational and technical needs of homeless children and their families. Member shelters include: Hamilton Family Center, Hamilton Emergency Shelter, Hamilton Transitional Program, Asian Women's Shelter, Families in SRO's Collaborative, Raphael House, Riley Center (Rosalie House and Brennan House), Richmond Hills Family Center, Tenderloin Childcare Center, St. Joseph's Village, Richmond Hills Family Center, Salvation Army-Harbor House, La Casa de las Madres, Homeless Prenatal Program, Connecting Point, DrawBridge, A Home Away From Homelessness, Treasure Island Homeless Development Initiative (TIHDI) and Treasure Island Elementary School. |
