Description Provides referrals and helps clients to access resources needed to promote a healthy pregnancy and achieve stability. Services to pregnant women and families with children under 18 include individual counseling, peer support group, prenatal assessment, placement in comprehensive prenatal care programs, prenatal classes, substance abuse counseling, spousal abuse counseling, and referrals for both outpatient and residential treatment. Offers assistance with finding permanent housing and income/benefits advocacy. Provides training and employment for the Community Health Outreach Workers (CHW'S) program. CHW'S are formerly homeless women who conduct outreach at shelters, public aid offices, single room occupancy hotels, and on the streets. Family advocacy and immigrant services (not legal advice) are also available. Distribution of fresh produce and other goods (as well as computer and ESL classes) provided to clients only. Peer support group meets each Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Spanish support group meets each Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Publishes the "HPP NEWS" newsletter once a year. A member of the Homeless Children's Network (HCN).
