Description Provides paid work experience through community service and academic programs for youth and young adults. Operates the Project and Education Center (Building 102, Fort Mason, 415-928-7417) and the Presidio Recycling Center (Building 1243 Appleton, The Presidio, 415-561-2178).
Work experience includes restoring parks, playgrounds, and low-income residences. Experience also includes recycling and conservation. Academic programs include computer and multimedia classes, high school diploma and GED instruction (in English and Spanish), career development, job coaching, academic tutoring, environmental education, internships, and college application assistance. Speakers are available to talk about SFCC and its programs. Volunteer opportunities are available.
Participates in the One-Stop Access Project which coordinates comprehensive job related services provided by various agencies including the Private Industry Council (PIC), Human Services Agency (HSA), Employment Development Department (EDD) and City College of San Francisco (CCSF).
Eligibility For corps member, youth and young adult 11 to 26 years of age. Some programs may have specific eligibility requirements.
